Himmel, Himmel
Bachelor Project, Installation & Booklet, 2025
Project at MdRV

In my bachelor thesis, I explored the phenomenon of heaven, as I find the physical sky highly aesthetic and, as a Christian, I am also incredibly interested in the religious concept of heaven. After a long and arduous process, the project “Himmel, Himmel” (Sky, Heaven) was finally created.

The work functions as an exploratory investigation of the theme of “Himmel” in these two interpretations. The aim is, on the one hand, to explore the phenomenon of a metaphysical heaven and, on the other hand, to establish a relationship with the physical sky in order to create a tangible access to the former and serve as a mediator. Overall, the work aims to provide a platform for reflection on the relationships and possible congruence between the two.
In addition to the thesis, the final product of this project was a combination of an installation and a booklet. The installation analyzed the current sky and, at the touch of a button, transferred it to a level of interpretation. The accompanying booklet provides a theoretical basis, an explanation of the structure of the installation and the origin of the interpretations, as well as further examples of sky analysis, similar to a “catalog.”
